Think Forensic’s crime scene experts invite you and your students into the fascinating world of forensic science in a unique and unrivalled experience.
…A crime has been committed and it’s up to your students to use their skills and work as a team if they are to solve this authentic “whodunit”.
Your budding Kay Scarpeta or Nick Stokes will be assigned roles including investigators and crime scene managers. They will photograph and examine crime scenes, collect and analyse evidence, interrogate suspects and co-ordinate a sequence of events designed to develop scientific skills and highlight the importance of accuracy and integrity.
Communication and joint working are also essential parts of the day if the investigation is not to collapse and the culprit escape scot free.
Our experts, including scenes of crime officers, detectives and forensic scientists, will be on hand to assist with techniques and guide participants through the legal process. Crime scenes can feature theft, kidnap and even murder.
Our specially adapted centre, based near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, features a number of crime scenes and scenarios. It is suitable for all ages and abilities but is particularly useful for Aim Higher students or those studying applied science, A level, B Tec, or OCN etc. Science clubs and out of school clubs will also find it useful for stimulating an interest in science.
We also have a range of teacher training events
which are not only designed to help increase knowledge around crime scene investigation but also guaranteed to be fun. Teachers and technicians are welcome to attend as individuals or as a group.
“We have used the Think Forensic team in the past for coursework purposes on the BTEC Nationals Applied Science with Forensics. The team have visited us at Sheffield College on a number of occasions and have been incredibly helpful and professional. I think the background careers of the team enable students to believe in the situations and information more than if we just taught it to them. I didn’t know what to expect from the Crime Scene centre, but I trusted the team to live up to their previously high standards. Both the students and myself were pleasantly surprised at the range of scenes and evidence types on the day, which thoroughly exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed the day, in fact the students were so involved that they forgot it was actually an assessment……! I would recommend the Think Forensic Crime Scene day to anyone, whether using for assessment or just as an enjoyable and inspiring experience for their students”
